History

Nacoochee Presbyterian Church was founded in 1870. The original building is now Crescent Hill Baptist Church. The congregation began meeting in the Nacoochee Institute in 1903. In 1926 the main school building burned; the congregation lost its meeting place and the school was consolidated with Rabun Gap to form Rabun Gap Nacoochee School by 1928. The present church building was built and dedicated in 1927. In 1993, the fellowship hall and kitchen were enlarged, and classrooms, session room / pastor's study were added.

Nacoochee Presbyterian Church is part of the Presbyterian Church (USA), Northeast Georgia Presbytery, and the Synod of the South Atlantic.

Membership

You may enter into active membership in one of the following ways:

PROFESSION OF FAITH (by declaring faith and receiving baptism);

REAFFIRMATION OF FAITH (by declaring faith after an absence from the church); or by

TRANSFER (by moving letter of membership from another Christian church).

The Session, the governing body of local congregations of the Presbyterian Church (USA), receives members into the congregation. Please let any one of the elders (the members of Session) or one of the pastors know of your interest.

Nacoochee Presbyterian Church welcomes anyone who comes to worship or to any of the congregation's events. You do not have to be a member of the church to participate. Membership is for those who feel led to make such a commitment.
